What is an “Alter”?
First, please note the term “alter,” as used in this teaching, does not refer to the altar at the front of a church sanctuary or an altar on which one lays a sacrifice.
What is the definition of alter? For the purpose of this teaching, an alter is an alternative personality, or a portion of a human personality, devoted to a specific purpose.
An alter is a “splinter” or “piece” of one’s soul, i.e., one’s mind, will, heart, and emotions.
An alter is created unknowingly by the individual, often in childhood, to assist with a specialized situation which was difficult or unpleasant to the individual at that time. The specific situation can be almost anything, from everyday pressures to extreme trauma or abuse. It is important to understand that the alter is created based on the person’s perception of circumstances at his or her actual age, even as a very young child. An event that would not be damaging for an adult may be extremely traumatic for a young child.
An alter personality is something a person creates in one’s own soul to aid and empower the person to deal with difficult situations. However, all alters create rights to the enemy and the demonic realm. Bob Lucy’s instruction and forthcoming book provide deeper teaching about the need to be healed and delivered from attachments to created alters and demonics.
